THE OLD MAN
I passed an old man along the way,
He was passing by another day.
He stopped me with his smile,
"Can I talk to you for awhile?"
He pulled out an old bible that was tattered and torn,
It's pages had been worn.
"Do you know Jesus?" he asked.
And it was then that my fear had fled.
"No," I cried,
With my arms stretched open wide.
"Do you want to know Jesus?" he asked.
And it was then that I knew his task.
"Yes, I replied.
"So that with him I can abide."
"Get down on your knees and pray,"
"And just repeat what I say."
And then, the old man was gone,
For his task had been done
I'll never forget that day,
When the old man taught me how to pray.

THE WORLD'S SACRIFICE
"It is finished," he cried,
And with those words, he died.
He hung on a cross,
And gave his life for a world that was lost.
He paid the price for you and for me,
So, with him, we can spend eternity.
Oh sinner, come and repent of your sins,
For it doesn't matter where you have been.
Come, kneel at the cross,
Because for you he paid the cost.
And there you will find the Lord, Jesus Christ,
The world's sacrifice.

GETHSEMANE
O my father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me:
nevertheless not as I will, but, as thou wilt. Matt. 26:39
Father, I ask you, is there another way?
To pay this price I must pay?
My spirit is willing, but, my flesh is weak.
But, it is your will I seek.
I will lovingly wear the crown of thorns,
Take the stripes upon my back and the nails in my hands and feet.
I will go to the cross and shed my blood,
For the whole world, whom I love.
I will let them mock and curse me, to save the lost,
I will give my life, I will pay the cost.
For not my will, but, thine be done.
Amen.

THE BLOOD
The blood flows farther than the deepest sea,
Oh, how it covers me.
It washes me white as snow,
Every day that I go.
It washes away all my sins,
No matter where I have been.
When the enemy comes in like a flood,
I know that I am covered by the blood.
